Building a healthy community

The mission of the UTHC is to provide safe, accessible and quality health and social services to the seven Inuit communities of the Ungava Bay Coast, and rehabilitation services to the fourteen Inuit communities of Nunavik. UTHC prioritizes prevention and puts a strong emphasis on youth development. Some 60% of Nunavik residents are under 30 years of age, and 34% of them are less than 14 years old. Consequently, over the last few years, the Centre has developed several early detection and early intervention programs to offer appropriate counseling services to both the youth and the parents.
