Building a healthy community
The mission of the UTHC is to provide safe, accessible and quality health and social services to the seven Inuit communities of the Ungava Bay Coast, and rehabilitation services to the fourteen Inuit communities of Nunavik. UTHC prioritizes prevention and puts a strong emphasis on youth development. Some 60% of Nunavik residents are under 30 years of age, and 34% of them are less than 14 years old. Consequently, over the last few years, the Centre has developed several early detection and early intervention programs to offer appropriate counseling services to both the youth and the parents. SHAPE is a coalition of 20 Ontario community legal clinics providing free public legal education and legal advice to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment. We provide free public legal information and summary legal advice to workers experiencing workplace sexual harassment. We can also provide training and resources to employers looking to understand their legal responsibilities to address and prevent workplace sexual harassment. We are staffed by lawyers and paralegals.
