Rideau Carleton Raceway officially opened its doors to the public on September 1st, 1962 as Canada’s first ever five-eighths mile oval, and has been a key part of Ontario’s harness racing community ever since. The casino and gaming site opened in February 2000, and has been a significant local economic contributor, with 100% of revenue from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) being reinvested back within the province of Ontario. To date, the City of Ottawa has received over $93M in total payments for hosting Rideau Carleton Casino within the National Capital Region. These funds directly support our local community in making Ottawa one of the most vibrant and exciting places to live, work, and play, benefiting local communities and contributing to economic recovery. Future Hard Rock (rideaucarletoncasino.com)
In May 2017, OLG selected Hard Rock Ottawa as the successful new Casino partner for this site. This partnership between HR LP (owned by Hard Rock International) and RCR Investor Inc. (owned by Rideau Carleton Raceway Holdings Limited) is working to build a new state-of-the-art entertainment facility that will soon bring the iconic Hard Rock brand to Ottawa, and enliven the city like never before.
